SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 8

Requesting the Division of Highways designate West Virginia Route 2 from Parkersburg to the Pennsylvania border as "Marine Corps League Highway" with suitable signs to identify it.

Whereas, There are several symbols of recognition of veterans organizations such as the Vietnam Veterans Highway, the Purple Heart Bridge, the Korean Veterans Highway and the like throughout the State of West Virginia, which is as it should be; and
Whereas, West Virginians over the years have chosen the United States Marine Corps in large numbers and there is a need for a symbol for the many thousands of West Virginians who have served in the Marine Corps with distinction, many of them having given their full measure of devotion to their state and country; and
Whereas, The West Virginia Department of the Marine Corps League, with fourteen detachments located throughout the state and consisting of almost a thousand members, has suggested that Governor Cecil H. Underwood designate West Virginia Route 2 from Parkersburg to the Pennsylvania border as "Marine Corps League Highway" with suitable signs to identify it; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is requested to designate West Virginia Route 2 from Parkersburg to the Pennsylvania border as "Marine Corps League Highway" with suitable signs to identify it; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
